War of the worlds was a good movie...

Just came from the movie. Spielberg took ideas from the novel and the 60's flick and spiced it up. It was really intense, if I try to pump the volume in my house with those sounds, for sure I will have problems.....
It was really intense, and sometimes you might ask for a break, yeah, that sounds weird....
My only downside is the Aliens. I wish he used the one from the previous movie, because they didn't look like something you have seen before. After you see it, you will know what I mean...

It was definitely better than I expected. Yeah, gotta agree with Daj about the probing eye [img]wink.gif[/img] But overall, I thought it was a nicely spiced up remake of a film that was good in the first place
(for it's time,it was a hell of a movie.)
Bottom line, if you have a great classic sci fi story, a damned fine director, screenwriter, effects, and a good cast, you should end up with an enjoyable experience.

Just got back from seeing it. It was a lot of fun and the FX were incredible. I had a lot of questions and found quite a few flaws but this isn't the kind of movie you analyze. You just sit back and enjoy the ride. And a helluva ride it was. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

And when you say there were a lot of flaws, you're quite right... how did the videocameras work when the EMP supposedly wiped out everything electrical?

and about the alien probe...i thought the only reason it was oblivious was because it couldnt hear anything...until someone made a loud noise and it reacted

I loved the movie. I liked the eye probe, because it was like a new tech version of the gooseneck from the 50's pal tripods.

The aliens were fine, but I'd have liked to see them have the 3 eyes, again from the 50's movie.

Why NO ONE picked up the toy license for this is beyond me. We could have gotten a 12-18" martian tripod, martian figures, and maybe somone could have come up with some cool gimmicky "heat ray victim" figure/action feature.

I *would* like to see McFarlane's sculting for something like this, but after the Matrix APU debacle, I have a feeling they'd just fall apart.

BTW if anyone is even considering buyinf the pendragon dvd of war of the worlds that was released this month.. DON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best description I can make of it is a 3 hour slow motion train wreck.
